Qualifications
  • BVSc MSc (Clinical Oncology), MRCVS
  • DECVIM-CA (Medical Oncology)

Shirley qualified in 1996 from the University of Pretoria (Onderstepoort) and has worked in a number of small animal practices in the UK since then. In April 2004 she started a three year residency in clinical oncology at Veterinary Referrals Cancer and Critical Care (VRCC), completing her residency in 2007. Thereafter, Shirley was awarded a Master of Science degree in Clinical Oncology by the Institute of Cancer Research at Birmingham University, having presented a thesis on radiation therapy for soft tissue sarcomas.

In June 2007 she moved to a veterinary specialist in Herefordshire as staff oncologist. After taking sabbatical for study, she obtained her European Diploma in Oncology in 2015 and joined Dovecote Veterinary Hospital shortly after.
